Staying on campus for part or all of the Summer vacation?
We’ve put some information together which we hope you will find useful – anything from shop opening times, emergency healthcare info and what’s on in the Lancaster area. Either look down the list of openings and information, select a particular category or even go to our events page which has a calendar of all the events on during the vacation.

The LUSU Information Desk will be open from 9am – 5pm* during the Summer vacation.
*Exceptions Friday 8th, 15th July 4pm closure. Monday 29th August, closed – Summer Bank Holiday.

Open 8.30am – 11pm, Monday – Friday, throughout the vacation and Saturdays and Sundays 12 noon – 11pm.
Graduate Bar
Open 8-11pm daily with the exception of Saturday 9th July (Gradstock) until Friday 9th September.

There will be advisers available for most of the summer vacation. Generally you do not need an appointment for help and advice.

STAGECOACH BUS SERVICES
There will be a reduced 3 service throughout the summer vacation. Services such as the 2A will be reduced at night – a lot of the last night buses will not be running. The X1 service will only be running Monday to Friday. The complete time table will change mid August. The new Sports Centre is NOW OPEN!
In August 2011 the new £20m Sports Centre at Lancaster University opened its doors for business.
Located just off the A6 on the main drive up to the campus and next to the rugby pitches, the facilities is open to students, staff and the general public.
Facilities include a 25 metre Swimming Pool with 8 lanes – including a ‘floating floor’ which can vary the depth of the pool, Climbing Wall & Bouldering Cave which has been specially designed with input from renowned mountaineer and Chancellor Sir Chris Bonington, Health & Fitness Suites, Sauna & Steam Rooms, Sports Hall with 8 badminton Courts, 4 Squash Courts and outdoor changing facilities for field games. There is also a state of the art, 100 station gym.
The varied programme of activities previously on offer will continue at the new Centre and will include casual hire of facilities such as badminton, netball, 5-a-side etc, instructed classes (aerobics, other fitness classes), fitness training and junior activities such as sports coaching and holiday schemes. It will also continue to deliver swimming lessons to the local community both through LEA swimming lessons and the university swimming tuition scheme.

Bailrigg Health Centre
The medical practice on campus is open Monday – Friday 8am – 6.30pm. From July onwards they will also be open every other Saturday 8am – 12pm.
For enquiries/appointments please phone extension 94130 or 01524 387780. They will be closed for the Bank Holidays.
If you need to contact a Doctor urgently during evenings and nights, weekends and Bank Holidays please contact the local ‘out of hours service’ on 0300 123 1144.
The NHS Direct Service is available to give advice 24 hours a day, 365 days a year on 0845 4647.
The Nurse Unit will be closed and cease to operate from the 20th December
